  • Frontview of Zalala Elementary School Feauturing the main entrance and the grassy area for students to play Zavala Elementary is one out of 114 schools throughout the nation that has received the Apple grant as part of the ConnectED initiative in 2014.  The award has enabled our school to provide a comprehensive 1:1 iPad for every student and teacher along with Apple services to help support our educational goal.  Increasing technology access for all our students and teachers will provide our students with a world-class learning environment.
  • Our school is Common Sense Media Certified in Digital Citizenship.  Digital Citizenship is a concept that guides instruction to ensure our students know how to use technology appropriately to keep themselves and others safe.  By putting technology into the hands of young children, we have a social responsibility to teach them about Digital Citizenship.
  • In addition to providing our children a world-class education, we also believe in nurturing their individual interests and talents.  We were the first school in the district to have a student produced weekly newscast.  The Zavala Owls Weekly Newscast (ZOWN) is made up of a team of Fourth graders who write their own script and highlight events around the campus.  You can watch weekly episodes on our YouTube channel Zavala Elem HCISD.  We also have a JR FLL Robotics team of Third Graders and a FLL Robotics team of Fourth and Fifth graders that are learning to code.  We also have Student Council, UIL teams, Recycling Club, Safety Patrol and a Yearbook Media Club.
  • We are the Best School in the Universe!
